Glenn has worked with Sight Scotland for over 22 years, first as Residential Care Worker in our residential houses, and more recently as a Senior Residential Care Worker in our Royal Blind School.

He leads a small team of five school based residential care workers who assist in the residential houses in the mornings, then go into the classrooms in the afternoons. He is also responsible for the introduction of a new digital social care recording system.

"We know we’re doing something that’s incredibly valuable, working with young people who are vulnerable with additional support needs and a visual impairment, and we know the families appreciate what we do. I feel privileged to be a part of the excellent care we provide as a team."

Glenn has worked with Sight Scotland for over 22 years, first as Residential Care Worker in our residential houses, and more recently as a Senior Residential Care Worker in our Royal Blind School:

“During my college placement, I undertook a work placement at a leisure centre where I ended up being hired for swimming lessons, coaching and health and fitness. The part I enjoyed the most was the coaching aspect with children, which led to me moving onto managing after-school clubs throughout Livingston and Edinburgh. When the position at the Royal Blind School came up and I thought ‘let’s give it a go’ – and that was it - never looked back!

"I started off as a Residential Care Worker then was fortunate enough to be offered a temporary senior post which later became full time. I have a small team of five school-based residential care workers who assist in the residential houses in the mornings, then go into the classrooms in the afternoons.

"We know we’re doing something that’s incredibly valuable, working with young people who are vulnerable with additional support needs and a visual impairment, and we know the families appreciate the care we provide. I have a good support network and made a lot of friends, this has been in a big factor in why I have worked here for so long.”
