Data Protection Complaints

Under data protection law, individuals have the right to raise concerns directly with an organisation if they believe their Personal Data has not been handled correctly.

At Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans, we are committed to protecting Personal Data and take any concerns about how it is used very seriously.

A data protection complaint is a concern raised by an individual about how we have collected, used, stored, or shared their personal data, or whether we have met our obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Examples of data protection complaints include:

  • experiencing a personal data breach.
  • not being properly informed about how your Personal Data is used.
  • concerns about how we have handled a Subject Access Request (SAR).

How to make a complaint a Data Protection Complaint

You can submit a data protection complaint by:

  • downloading and completing our data protection complaint form and emailing it to dpo@sightscotland.org.uk.
  • emailing us directly at dpo@sightscotland.org.uk describing your complaint.
  • writing to us at: Data Protection Officer, Sight Scotland, 2A Robertson Avenue, Edinburgh, EH11 1PZ.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and handle your complaint in line with our Complaints Policy and Procedure.

If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
