How can your company help?
Our mission is to support, campaign and research for people affected by visual impairment, to ultimately realise our vision of an inclusive Scotland where people of all visual abilities have the opportunity to thrive. You can be part of this mission by supporting us at your workplace.
The number of people who are blind or partially sighted in Scotland is set to increase by 30,000 in the next decade to over 200,000; we’ve never needed your support more.
Employee fundraising
Fundraising at work is a flexible and rewarding way to support your favourite charity, here’s a few ideas of how you (and your friends and family) could do this:
- Payroll giving – does your employer support you to give via this most tax efficient method? For every £8 you donate, we receive £10, making your generosity go further. Speak to your HR or payroll team to find out more
- Charity of the year – many workplaces ask staff to nominate a good cause each year. If you’d like to nominate Sight Scotland or Sight Scotland Veterans, we can give you information, photos and stories to support a nomination. If you don’t have a formal partnership arrangement, you can still support us!
- Challenge Events – get a team together to walk the miles between your offices, or tackle a trek. Fundraising together is fun, and a shared goal can really bring a team together. Alternatively, instil a bit of friendly competition by pitting teams against each other. Can Finance raise more than HR? Will IT get more miles covered than Facilities? We can support with branded t-shirts and lots of ideas of how to hit your targets.
- Fundraising events – a one-off event you do in the office, such as a bake sale or raffle. We can support with posters to let everyone know when and where your event will be taking place, collection tins etc.
Business owners
If you run a business, you could promote your products or services by making a donation on every sale of a particular one. You could also ask customers to make a discretionary donation to join you in supporting one of Scotland’s oldest charities. We can tackle vision loss together.
