We've been around since 1915, and we’re here to offer support across Scotland to veterans of the Armed Forces who need support to adapt to sight loss.
We've been known by a number of names since 1915. In recent years it had become clear that our name did not reflect that we support anyone who has served in the forces and has sight loss – no matter the cause or how long after their service sight loss impacts them.
We are proud of our history as Scottish War Blinded, but our name meant that people affected by sight loss were missing out on benefiting from all we offer because they did not believe we were right for them.
So, in 2020 we announced we were changing our name to Sight Scotland Veterans.
While our name has changed over the years, we are guided by the same vision which led to our formation in 1915.
We won't stop helping blind and partially sighted veterans regain their independence and confidence by supporting them with our range of tailored services, expertise and knowledge. Together, we will tackle sight loss.
