Congratulations are in order for Sam, Jemima and Pam, who were each honoured with an invitation to the Royal Garden Party earlier this month.

Sam and Jemima, both former pupils of the Royal Blind School, and Pam, a qualified teacher of the visually impaired (QTVI), each have amazing achievements under their belts.

Jemima earned recognition last year in the National Poetry Competition run by Young Writers with her poem Vision Beyond Sight, and was also the face of our Winter Appeal last year celebrating her incredible deftness at reading braille despite being told she would never be able to.

Sam is a recognised athlete and was recently awarded an MBE in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours in recognition of her services to sport and the visually impaired community.

Pam has dedicated many years as a QTVI to helping pupils grow and thrive at The Royal Blind School, and was nominated to attend the Royal Garden Party for her outstanding work supporting Sam, Jemima, and other young people with visual impairments – a reminder of the dedication, care, and commitment shown by our staff every single day.

A huge congratulations to each of them! We’re absolutely delighted that this well deserved recognition was bestowed upon Sam, Jemima and Pam for their incredible achievements.
