Community Worker (Edinburgh)

We are looking for caring, creative, forward thinking and dedicated people to join our Older People Support Service within the Community Services team at Sight Scotland, the new name for Royal Blind.


  • aim to reduce the isolation and anxiety often felt by those with sight loss, while improving confidence to live well with visual impairment now and in the future.

The service will provide support to individuals impacted by sight loss by adopting a person-centred approach ensuring they are fully equipped to adapt to the changing world around them.

This is a temporary position, initially for 18 months based in Edinburgh with regular travel throughout the Lothians. Applicants should have an SVQ level 3 Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards), or another professional health or social care qualification.

Rehabilitation and Mobility Officer

Due to an exciting expansion of our service, we are now looking for a professional, innovative, forward thinking and dedicated person to join our Community Services team at Sight Scotland, the new name for Royal Blind.

You will cover East and Midlothian providing a person-centred rehabilitation and mobility service to people of all ages affected by sight loss and other disabilities, offering information, practical advice and emotional support.

Your role will involve assessing people affected by sight loss for rehabilitation and mobility provision and to deliver training programmes to groups or one to one in areas such as daily living activities, long cane training and route-finding.

If you have a professional qualification in Rehabilitation studies such as Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) – FdSc or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards a qualification, together with an active registration with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network we would like to hear from you.

Nurse within Residential Care

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, creative, forward thinking and dedicated person to join our Nursing team within the Royal Blind School.

You will be an experienced nurse in Child Health or Learning Disabilities and have experience of being responsible for the assessment of care needs, along with the development, implementation and evaluation of care.

Our nursing and care teams ensure that the children and young people receive the highest quality of care and support while taking pride in promoting good relationships with the children and their families to empower and encourage a sense of achievement.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team will be second nature to you as will your ability to adapt and respond positively to the unexpected. We provide 24-hour support, so we need you to be able to work shifts, including weekends
