In April 2027, two Sight Scotland supporters will embark on an adventure like no other and begin their pilgrimage walking 114km of the Camino de Santiago, from Sarria to the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

This all-inclusive experience has been generously gifted to us by Walk the Camino Ltd. We're delighted to be able to offer this unique challenge to two of our supporters, and to in turn support them in raising £5,000 to help people with sight loss across Scotland live a life of independence.

The challenge

One of the most popular routes in the world, more people walk this final stage of the Camino Frances than any other. Your destination, Santiago de Compostela, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The city centres on the magnificent Cathedral of Saint James, a Romanesque masterpiece, and is surrounded by a picturesque Old Town—a fitting, historic end to your journey.

You'll walk the Camino Francés over five days, on the way passing through Portomarín, Palas de Rei, Ribadiso and O Pedrouzo, before arriving in Santiago. During your pilgrimage, collect ink stamps called "sellos" in your own pilgrim credencial and claim the Compostela certificate when you arrive in Santiago de Compostela. You may even be lucky enough to see the Botafumeiro swing at Pilgrim Mass!

It's one of the world's best-loved pilgrimages, promising beautiful scenery and an amazing cultural experience.

Ahead of this unique challenge, you'll be in full fundraising mode, and we'll support you to fundraise a minimum of £5,000 between you.
